A special day out for your Mum
Treat Mum to a relaxing and scenic day out behind steam locomotive Jb 1236 “Joanne”, hauling our fleet of premium carriages with large panoramic windows, air conditioning, and heating - the perfect way to spoil her with a unique and memorable experience on the rails.
Sit back and enjoy a scenic journey from Plimmerton through Pukerua Bay, taking in the stunning coastal views and Kapiti Island as we head north through the Kapiti Coast and into the Manawatu countryside. The trip includes spectacular views of the Manawatu Gorge and the new Te Ahu a Turanga highway crossing the Tararua Ranges.
Our café carriage will be open throughout the journey, offering a selection of food and drinks for purchase.
When we arrive at Mangatainoka, a short bus transfer (or an easy 10-minute walk) will take you to the Tui Brewery. There, Mum will enjoy a gourmet BBQ lunch served in the original Flagon Room, including a complimentary drink (beer, cider, or sauvignon blanc). Each guest also receives a Mangatainoka Passport filled with vouchers to redeem at the brewery.
